Questions

Everything people usually ask before booking

If your question is not here, call us on 412-505-8735 or send a note through the contact page and we will answer it properly.

The basics

Do you do both hair and spa treatments?

Yes. Alora is a full salon and a wellness spa in one place, so you can book color or a cut and a head spa, facial or pedicure in the same visit.

How do I book an appointment?

The easiest way is to book online, where you can see live availability, durations and pricing across all our services. You can also call us on 412-505-8735 or send an enquiry through this page.

What are your hours?

We are open Monday to Saturday: Monday afternoons from 1pm, Tuesday to Friday from 10am, all with evening appointments until 8pm, and Saturdays 10am to 2pm. We are closed Sundays.

Where are you and is there parking?

We are at 710 Chauvet Drive, Pittsburgh, in Robinson Township, with easy parking right outside. We are a short drive from Moon, Coraopolis, Kennedy and McKees Rocks.

Hair and color

What products do you use?

Organic and vegan only. We are a NATULIQUE concept salon, so our color is certified-organic and ammonia-free, and we use their Bioactive bond complex to protect hair through every service. In the spa we work with KPS Essentials clean skincare. If you love something, you can take it home.

Is your color suitable for a sensitive scalp?

It is what we built the salon around. Our color is certified-organic and ammonia-free, so there are none of the harsh fumes you get in a conventional salon, which is often what makes color uncomfortable. Tell us when you book if your scalp is reactive and we will patch test and plan the service around it.

Do you look after men as well?

Yes. We have a gentlemen's collection covering precision cutting, hair restoration and the more restorative side of the menu, in the same unhurried room as everything else.

Do you do extensions, perms and hair treatments?

Yes to all three, alongside cutting, styling and our full color menu. Bond renewal, deep conditioning and hair growth therapies sit under our nourish and restore treatments. Book a consultation and we will talk through what suits your hair.

The spa

What is a head spa?

It is a scalp treatment that doubles as an hour of deep rest. Our Classic Nordic Head Spa begins with a scalp analysis, then an aromatic cleanse and exfoliation, a slow rhythmic massage to release tension and stimulate circulation, warm steam and nourishing essences. We also offer Sacred Roots, a targeted therapy for hair loss and scalp imbalance, and the Grand Lotus Crown Ceremony, our deluxe version with a foot bath ritual and sound therapy.

Which head spa should I book?

Classic Nordic is the one to start with, and the one most people mean when they say head spa. Choose Sacred Roots instead if your concern is thinning, shedding or an unhappy scalp, since it is built around that. The Grand Lotus Crown Ceremony is the unhurried version, with a foot bath ritual and sound therapy, for when you want the whole afternoon to disappear.

What are the five elements in your spa menu?

Our spa is organized around Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Ether. Each element has its own energy and draws on rituals from a different part of the world: Mediterranean, Scandinavian, Middle Eastern, Ancient Oriental, and our own signature rituals. It is a way of choosing a treatment by how you want to feel rather than by a list of names.

Gifts

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes. A salon or spa visit makes a lovely gift, and you can buy a gift card straight from our booking page. Ask us in the salon if you would rather sort it in person.

Still not sure what to book?

Tell us what you are after and we will point you at the right service and the right person. It is what a consultation is for.
